Knoppers, Annelies, and Mary McDonald. "Scholarship on Gender and Sport in Sex Roles and Beyond." Sex Roles, 2010, Vol.63(5-6), P.311-323, 63.5-6 (2010): 311-6),.  This article explains the last 35 years, and  shows what differences have been deveolping with women in sports.  This article also shows perspectives from different countries to help get a diverse group to help show how things have been changing.

Buysse, Jo Ann, and Melissa Sheridan Embser-Herbert. "Constructions of Gender in Sport: An Analysis of Intercollegiate Media Guide Cover Photographs." Gender and Society, 18.1 (2004): 66-81. This article focuses on College sports and how the media depicts women as feminine and much less likely to be active, which is not the case.  It also explains how the media chooses certain photos to show how men are the more masculine and active gender.

Ruel, Erin, Marni Brown, and Stephanie Medley-Rath. "High School Students' Attitudes Toward Providing Girls Opportunities to Participate in Sport." Sociology of Sport Journal, 28.2 (2011): 239-253.   This article explains how stereotypes are made from even high school students.  It explains how the male athletes have a negative attitude towards the female student athletes which overall could have an impact on why people have come to see the stereotyping of women in sport increase.
