Buysse, Jo Ann, and Melissa Sheridan Embser-Herbert. "Constructions of Gender in Sport: An Analysis of Intercollegiate Media Guide Cover Photographs." Gender and Society, 18.1 (2004): 66-81. This article focuses on College sports and how the media depicts women as feminine and much less likely to be active, which is not the case.  It also explains how the media chooses certain photos to show how men are the more masculine and active gender.

Sociology of Sport Journal, 28.2 (2011): 239-253.   This article explains how stereotypes are made from even high school students.  It explains how the male athletes have a negative attitude towards the female student athletes which overall could have an impact on why people have come to see the stereotyping of women in sport increase.
